Richard Watts promoted to Head of Projects

We are delighted to announce not only the creation of a new position within our company but also an exciting internal promotion.

Since joining the company in January 2022, Richard Watts has shown nothing but enthusiasm, drive, and passion through his work as a Contracts Manager.

Therefore, we are thrilled to share that Group Managing Director, John Thorpe has appointed Richard as our new Head of Projects.

The Journey

Back in 2007, Rich found himself in the position we have all dreaded at some point… “what now”?

Upon completion of his GCSEs, Rich found himself applying to multiple apprenticeships within the construction industry, eventually receiving a placement at a company as a kitchen fitter.

Little did he know where this path would lead!

Once he had learned, practiced, and mastered the trade, the belief that he was meant for a bigger role encouraged him to change his path and seek a new challenge.

A multitude of roles followed, with Rich’s journey developing from a CAD Drawer to a Senior Project Manager, as he learned multiple aspects of fit-out, gaining an understanding and a unique perspective into construction.

18 months ago, this path led him to Thorpes Joinery, as we found ourselves a new member of our Contracts department. During his time with us as Contacts Manager, Richard has managed many impressive projects, all delivered to an impeccably high standard his most recent being Gerald Eve.

The Future

Effective from October 2023, Richard will oversee every project, making sure our processes run smoothly and are carried out to the best of our ability.

Being the face of our projects and point of contact for many of our clients, we know that Rich will thrive in this role and we cannot wait to support him throughout this pivotal moment in his career.

Congratulations to Richard on his promotion!

I have enjoyed my time at Thorpes so far, feeling like a valued member of the team from day one helped massively.

I am excited to get started in this new role. It represents a great step up in my career, and I hope to continue to grow within the role alongside Thorpes
