Responsibility.

Our Commitments.

Environmental.

At Thorpes Joinery we are proud of commitments we make to ensure we remain mindful of the world around us, recognising that we have a legal and moral duty to act responsibly.

We are committed to considering the environmental impact of our business, and actively seek to minimise or remove these effects.

Our Environmental Policy actively engages those at all levels of our organisation in this goal, setting measurable targets and providing the support necessary to achieve them.

As we work with natural materials we place a great emphasis on sustainable procurement, and we are proud to be certified to the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification scheme.

As well as many other policies we have invested in a state-of-the-art Biomass boiler to safely dispose of any wood-based waste that we produce, and convert this into clean, environmentally friendly energy, and have committed to achieving a “zero-landfill” status.

Health & Safety.

The welfare of our staff, clients and the general public is of paramount importance for us at Thorpes.

Effective H&S practices are an expectation from our entire staff, and our strategy has been devised to engage all of our employees to improve the effectiveness of our system and deliver a safer, and healthier work environment.

Our policies have been established and overseen by our Operations Director David Dean and implemented by Health and Safety Manager Joe Pickering, who play a key role in ensuring that safe practice is a strong part of our culture.

Accreditations & Certifications.

To ensure that we are operating as effectively as possible, we seek to gain professional and industry accreditations wherever appropriate. From our accreditations with Acclaim and Constructionline, to our continued involvement with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), each accolade furthers our ability to provide our clients with the best possible service.

Long Term Commitment

Environmental concerns are rightly at the forefront of many businesses' thinking, and for many, this is not a new approach.

We are proud to be a family business, and the second generation of the Thorpe family began the process of giving something back several decades ago.

John Thorpe, with help from many others within the organisation, planted several hundred trees on his own land.

We will be adding to this forest in the coming years, and will be able to directly measure the impact it has on the local environment.

We have added to this with our bench marking system with Zellar, whereby we can directly fund and support the continued planting of trees as well as helping us reach our Net Zero goal.
