Purpose built.

After 70 years in our Great Glen home the decision was taken to make the next and arguably most significant step in our company’s history; moving three sites, one hundred staff and all the equipment and machinery required into a custom-designed, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Market Harborough.

Managing Director David Dean was at the forefront of the design process, working with specialist workflow planners, listening to our staff and drawing upon his immense manufacturing experience to create a facility that enables us to provide the best possible service to our clients.

From creating a fully workable, 3D model of the factory floor, including moveable machinery, to consulting with our bench joiners over the design of their new benches, every last detail was considered.

The significant increase in size of nearly 60% is just the first of many benefits, most notably the improved efficiencies afforded to us by the meticulous workflow planning.

A great facility would ultimately be useless without an excellent team to run it, and at Thorpes we are fortunate to have just that.

Each member of our team plays a crucial role, from our solid timber department through to our corian fabrication department, and whilst their roles may be different, they share the same level of commitment to quality and customer service.

We blend modern techniques such as our three CNC machines, with more traditional, bespoke methods of manufacture such as in our veneer department where each lay on is expertly hand-crafted.

Operating out of 50,000 sq ft of dedicated space, our team continue to work on prestigious and challenging projects for some of the UK’s premier contractors, architects and designers.
