Set in the heart of Mayfair, Lanserhof at The Arts Club is the world’s first luxury medical gym and the result of a joint venture between two leading names in their respective fields: The Arts Club, one of London’s first and most prestigious members only clubs, and Lanserhof, Europe’s leading medical spa resort companies.
An industry leading facility required an industry leading design, and the partnership between Ingenhoven and Forge Architects resulted in just that: a beautiful scheme that is unmatched in the wellness arena.
The innovative and spectacular changing rooms are an undoubted highlight of the design. Working from a concept, our team created the entirely hi-macs clad “tunnel” completely in house.
The vaulted ceilings have an intricate, dappled leaf effect, created by recesses of varying depth and intelligently integrated lighting. This is also present in the keyless electronic lockers, with lighting indicating if they are in use. Truly specialist joinery such as this requires a huge amount of design input, and as time was severely limited for the project our team built a full-scale mock up to allow “pit-lane collaboration”.
This allowed the architects, design managers, lighting consultants and our own team to visualise, assess and fine tune the configuration to ensure that the build was efficient and realised our client’s vision.
The multitude of materials used provided a further challenge. Patinated brass is present in a number of areas and played a large part in establishing the theme of the space, it was therefore critical that we maintained an even and consistent finish throughout.
In spite of a narrow and confined layout typical of London’s inner city traditional buildings, and a challenging programme, our team worked effectively with our dedicated clients Structure Tone, to ensure that the project was worthy of the end user’s prestige and reputation for excellence. This was vindicated with the newly opened facility winning two accolades at the World Spa Awards 2019: Best Private Members Club Spa, and the highly-acclaimed Best Spa Design.
“The changing rooms have a completely unique design, making good on the vision to offer the ‘Most Luxurious Changing Rooms in the World’.
This took time and collaboration to put the concept design into practice.”
