Man Group - Reception feature wall

A New Heritage

The fit-out of Man Group’s new, London HQ back in 2021 was extensive, but featured one particularly eye-catching element of joinery.

As a nod to their new home perched on the bank of the River Thames, the views from outside continue upon entry to their impressive reception area.

Presented to us purely as a visual, our team developed the design for this stunning feature wall with our client’s team, bringing an ambitious concept to fruition.

Concept to Reality

The floor-to-ceiling design is supported by a system of aluminium panels, providing the sturdiness required for such an intricate feature.

Each panel is veneered with a vertical grain Oak crown. This elongates the room's height, adding to the spacious feeling within this welcoming reception area.

In order to provide the illumination effect, a groove was incorporated within the design to discreetly house the LED strip. This hidden feature allows the silhouette to stand out within the overall design, without detracting from the timber itself.

Along the elaborate 3D wall there are three hidden doors, each designed to blend in seamlessly with the overall feature. Providing this access to the cupboards whilst maintaining the design was key, therefore sleek and subtle handles have been used for all three doors.

Finer Details

Finally, following the ebb and flow of the infamous London landmark, landmarks located along the riverbank have been inscribed onto certain panels using exposed aluminium. This small but impactful detail is the perfect representation of the consideration and intricacy that went into this project.

Working alongside Overbury and Perkins + Will, we are proud to have contributed towards the creation of a show-stopping reception area.

We do get presented with truly stand-out joinery designs on occasion, and this feature wall is one of my favourites.

The design showcased exactly what we can do: working collaboratively with our client, finding solutions and ultimately, creating something that matches our end client’s expectations.

And it still looks fantastic a few years later!
