Stride
Preserving heritage in the workplace.
Contractor: HOP
Focused on prioritising comfort and style for the wellness of their employees, Stride has now settled into their very first workplace.
In a history filled location, the new home of dedicated individuals supporting budding entrepreneurs, is located on Grotto’s Passage. The completed design has withheld the heritage of the building with a contemporary twist.
The Design
Spread across three floors, we provided multiple impressive pieces of joinery including tea points, benches and lounge areas.
With a brief from the client to create a calming environment away from the hustle of the city, neutral tones and natural materials were used. To contrast this timeless palette, dark and dramatic features can be found throughout.
A perfect example of this is the ground floor island and tea point area where a 3.8 metre curved island can be found. In collaboration with Diespeker, we provided the carcase of the feature created from MDF, veneered with white oak. The use of white oak exaggerates the contrast between the light and dark tones adding depth into the sea of neutrals.
To pay respect towards the originality of the space, there was a focus throughout the entirety of the project to adapt to the existing space and build. Whilst this was an extended task and contained a lot of collaboration and cooperation, the uniqueness speaks through the end project.
Across the 16 week programme, our team worked closely with suppliers and contractor HOP to develop this unique space within the time given. Different oaks can be found throughout the three floors to compliment the tones and textures within the area, as well as creating a uniformed finish amongst each room.
Working alongside contractors HOP, the completed project has earned a place as a Finalist for the Mixology Awards in two categories: Design and Build & Workplace Sub 5K. Good luck to all involved and we look forward to seeing you at the Mixology Awards.
